In Response to the Financial Crisis (2007–2008)

Created between 2007 and 2008 as a direct response to the devastating global real estate and financial crisis, these conceptual paintings serve as a visual critique of modern consumer culture. By embedding the stark reality of financial vulnerability—such as the explicit text of credit card statements and minimum payments—directly into the work, I sought to examine the deep tension between societal promises of freedom and the trapping realities of systemic debt. This body of work challenges the viewer to confront the illusions of necessity driven by consumerism and reflects an artistic documentation of a defining economic shift in our contemporary history.
